Old Albic is the current main conlang project by Jörg Rhiemeier; it is a diachronic fictional language that represents the language of the ancient Elves (The Elvenpath). It has gone through several versions.

Version history

Nur-ellen

THe project started as Nur-ellen, a descendant of Sindarin, which was abandoned after the author decided that his Elves were independent of Tolkien's Elves and would speak a language unrelated to Tolkien's languages.

Old Albic, version 1

The language was completely rebuilt and became Old Albic, a language distantly related to Indo-European, based on a now obsolete theory about the languages of prehistoric Europe. A grammar sketch of the first version of Old Albic was posted to the CONLANG mailing list on July 21, 2004:

Old Albic, version 2

This language was later revised. A grammar of this version can be found here.

Old Albic, version 3

This is the version currently under construction. The reason for the rebuild is that the author's old ideas about its origin have become obsolete in the light of new knowledge. Old Albic is now a Hesperic language, wherein Hesperic is a branch of Indo-European coordinate with Anatolian. Old Albic is thus about as closely related to Hittite as Latin is to Sanskrit.
