Animalic was a funlang created by Mary and Marjorie Incledon in 1905. Little of its vocabulary is known; only one sentence survives, and this was given by Tolkien, and not one of Animalic's creators: "Dog nightingale woodpecker forty". This meant "you are an ass". The word 'forty' was used to mean 'donkey'/'ass', while the word 'donkey' was used to mean 'forty'.
The language supposedly inspired Tolkien to create his own conlang, Nevbosh.
