Proto-Choogo is an a posteriori language based on Japanese. It is the parent language of Shochakbẽ, Teekaabẽ, Ũlyuubẽ, Tosamabẽ, Linkōbẽ, Akabẽ, Tôbẽ, Seebẽ and Yōbẽ.

Proto-Choogo has phonemic length for all vowels and the consonants m, n, t, s, ʃ, ts and . Both /bː/ and /hː/ are realized as [pː]. Nasalization contrast also exists for all vowels.

The syllable structure is (C)V(V)(V)(V)(C).
