Communes

  • The Liwadis build their villages (yiʻup ىى۬عوُٮ) beside watercourses so that there is always a supply of fresh water. These villages may be on one side only or on both sides of a watercourse.
  • The Liwadis build two- or three-room houses (rutiń روُطى۬گ) of whatever material is available locally, usually logs (yinur ىى۬نوُر) or clay (yolap ىوْلٙٮ). The roofs (bobat بوْبٙط) are always of thatch (noney نوْنهى). The houses are windowless.
