Communes

  • The Liwadis build their villages (yiʻup ېيعۆٮ) beside watercourses so that there is always a supply of fresh water. These villages may be on one side only or on both sides of a watercourse.
  • The Liwadis build two- or three-room houses (rutiń رۆطيگ) of whatever material is available locally, usually logs (yinur ېينۆر) or clay (yolap ېۉلاٮ). The roofs (bobat بۉباط) are always of thatch (noney نۉنهې). The houses are windowless.
