Uses of Tilde Below
Usage Language Letters Notes
Nasalization Zarma A̰a̰ /ã/, Ḛḛ /ẽ/, Ḭḭ /ĩ/, O̰o̰ /õ/, Ṵṵ /ũ/ Nasalization may also be indicated with a tilde above the vowel, or with n or ŋ following the vowel, though tilde below is official.[1] Zarma has tones written with diacritics above the letter, so possibly the reason for using tilde below is to avoid diacritics clashing. Note that A̰a̰ and O̰o̰ are not precomposed characters.
