Arne is a Hesperic language of the Alpianic branch, spoken in the upper Saane valley in Switzerland in the League of Lost Languages. The name of the language is the same as that of the river: *Sarina has become Arne by regular sound change. Arne has reduced unstressed vowels, which led to a loss of the inflections inherited from Proto-Hesperic. The language has therefore become isolating. Nevertheless, it has some conservative traits, such as the unchanged preservation of the Proto-Hesperic velarized liquids.
