This is the lower counterpart to the ring diacritic. The ring below is used in IPA to indicate voicelessness and in Indo-European and Sanskrit studies to indicate syllabicity.[1] Note that this diacritic may be confused with dot below ◌̣ or square below ◌̻ (U+033B), especially in small font sizes.
