'''Puna''' ("good sound", later renamed '''Pulu''' "good mouth") was created in 2009 by Arpee (jan Ape). Inspired by [[Toki Pona]] and by his earlier tokiponidos, Puna was intended for use in international communication. To achieve that goal, Arpee took a minimalistic approach: Puna uses only 9 phonemes and 18 root words. This way, he argued, people could learn the entire language in little time: "Most people can learn up to 10 words a day.
