Matt: In both Star Wars and during the Cold War, civilian casualties were not considered worthy of attention. For example, civilian deaths were considered acceptable, but unmentionable, during the twenty years of instability from 1960 to 1980 in El Salvador. Additionally, collateral damage as a result of the coup in Iran was not considered. Furthermore the extermination of East Timorese was considered unnewsworthy. Terrorism stems from funding Mujahidin in Afghanistan during the Cold War.
