- At that moment the dark warrior entered the cavern.
- He stared in awe at what had once been his beautiful mother.
- The twins advanced on him with weapons at the ready, but he made no attempt to resist.
- "She will not die," Athnor assured him, "but no longer will she cause eternal death.
- While within the serpent I learned the power of the new plant.
- We will grow the plant wherever we live.
- Its growth will dim her silvern car and when dormant, the car will regain its brilliance.

- You cannot have them forever."
- "Our sister will return with us now to the People," continued Nestu.
- "Now that your mother's power is broken, we will not punish you.
- Nor will we prevent you from riding where you will."
- Athnor strode over to the table and picked up the crone's goblet pouring its contents on the fire.
- He and Nestu filled it with their mead and gave it to Sulzi to drink.
- The drink was satisfying to her, reminding her of home. Then the twins drank.
- The wizened crone made to leave the cavern to begin her nightly ride, but Athnor stopped her.
- "Your load will not be so heavy tonight, Mother. You will need only one horse.
- We will take the black stallion to replace the one we gave.
- The mare alone can pull your car through the sky."
- He unhitched the stallion and mounted, lifting Sulzi up in front of him.
- Nestu walked alongside and they made their way to the shore where he set the bark in the water.
- They entered the bark. The wind billowed the sail and the bark sailed out of sight toward the sunset.
- After sailing for three days they arrived at the shore whence they had sailed so many days before.
- The three, with the horses, disembarked.
- They mounted the horses and the three of them rode off toward home.
