Foħθīrix

Foħθīrix is one of the languages belonging to Alri language family. It stems directly from Proto-Alri, the family proto-language. It is spoken in the classic period and gives rise to a separate branch, named Foħθīri languages. Two daughter languages belong to this group and stem from Foħθīrix. It has an alphabetical script.

Typological structure

Foħθīrix is a morphologically agglutinative language, with some additional fusional features.

The basic word order is essentially SOV (Subject-Object-Verb).

(the) person sees (the) cow

Some typological parameters are set according to the modifier-head (or head-final) type :

  • object - verb
  • adjective - noun
  • relative clause - noun

Other typological parameters are set according to the head-modifier (or head-initial) type:

  • preposition - noun
