Cärähə is one of the languages belonging to Piti language family. It belongs to the branch, named Biwdiwgu languages and it stems directly from Biwdiw language. It has an alphabetical script.
Typological structure
Cärähə is mostly a morphologically agglutinative language, with an additional but strongly marked introflexive feature, realized in verbal roots.
The basic word order is essentially SVO (Subject-Verb-Object).
äs pühä rīruśäh xah mühi the person sees a cow
The entire system is set according to typological parameters of the head-modifier (or head-initial) type:
- verb - object
- preposition - noun
- noun - adjective
- noun - relative clause
One relevant feature of the evolution of Cärähə from Biwdiw is the complete loss of the case system (except, to a very limited extent, in the personal pronouns system).
