The tale of the merchant

Once upon a time there was a merchant preparing for a journey. He led an ox to a cart, tied it on, then loaded the cart with goods.

A child with a monkey looked for him. He wanted a box of food. He took a box of food and then went home as his belly was full. The monkey couldn't get home, however, as it was tied to a tree, which it therefore climbed.

Meanwhile the merchant had been tying the goods on to the cart, but he found that he did not have enough rope. And went towards the monkey and pulled its rope out of the tree. The monkey shrieked in its confusion and panicked the merchant. He then hit the monkey with the length of rope. It gave a shout and the goods rolled out of the cart causing the merchant to get tangled in the tree.

SHORT GRAMMAR

Dragonian is an SVO language with ergative absolutive alignment which is largely isolating. Words will often appear to have many yet closely related meanings this is due to vocalisations from two other sets of vocal cords not being written down. It is assumed that the reader will be able to ascertain the meaning from context. Adjectives and adverbs follow their respective nouns and verbs. Where two letters are next to each other the first is deleted. This is especially important for the words e and ē which may therefore not actually be written down. Naturally the tense of something is past which may be changed with particles but is not in this passage. Where A does X to/for B this is expressed as B če A X. Š is the equivilent to 's in English. Pronouns may be implied (Eg joe likes cheese. (He)Also likes jam.). Words can be used as many different parts of speech and as such the only way to determine what is what is with common sense and word order. Bačrēnöse ptîēn here can be taken to mean cart. The dictionary is given as the Dragonian word followed by possible translations of it feel free to use other similar words if you feel they fit better. The words given here are only to try to convey the concept.
