Pronunciation

Vowels: a (long)- as in father

a (short)- as in dark

e- as in the Welsh; as in where

i- as in the "y" sound in why

o (long)- as in born

o (short)- as in lottery

Dipthongs:

au- as in the German dipthong; restaurant.

oi- as in the French dipthong; "wa" sound in walk.

ais- as in the French dipthong; "ea" sound in bread (but longer).
