The Norse Holding of Fínlǣ was first established around 1000CE in what is nathistorically the northern tip of Newfoundland. The original name Vínland applied a loosely-defined region centered on the first small settlement at the modern capital Bǽnfekk /baːnvek/ (orig. Bjarnivík).
It is subdivided into the states of Fínlǣ "proper" (nathist Newfoundland Island), Mákklǣ /mɑːklæ̃/ (nathist Labrador), Œlulǣ /ølulæ̃/ (nathist Baffin Island), and Skrǽlīlǣ /ʃxaːlĩlã/ (or Islǽllit Nunát /isɬaːlːit nunɑːt/).
