Imerte Province
Imerte Province (Mirselec Imerte denai), also known as Province 24, is a province of Risevne, situated in northern Masalne and often grouped as one of the three Northern Provinces. It borders Darnevgana Province on its east and northeast, and Tasenir Province on its south, while its west is a long coast facing the western Elaspegian Ocean. Its capital is the coastal city of Begarni.
With a harsh climate and mountainous terrain, Imerte Province is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Risevne, and for centuries one of the poorest as well. Even now, fishing plays a large part in the economy of the province, and though technology and mechanisation has played a large part in increasing the incomes of local fishermen, the province remains mostly as a backwater. In recent years, with the discovery of oil in the eastern outer islands, as well as to the west of the Nomuniki Peninsula in Noma, has sparked renewed efforts at oil discovery offshore of Imerte; meanwhile it is becomnig an increasingly important node in oil transportation from Noma southwards to Bresnga, and west towards Osonde.
