Vasca/armada
Rank and insignia
The rank structure of the armed forces of Vasca is based largely upon the various rank structures of Western European countries.
Officers
Commissioned officers rise through a series of six ranks, namely: Suteninte, Teninte, Comandor, Capitan, Brigador, Amiral (or Jeneral).
Enlisted
Enlisted soldiers and non-commissioned officers rise through a series of five ranks, namely: Soldato (Ecipor, or Marinor), Caporal de Lansa (or Lansor), Caporal, Sarjento, Mestre Sarjento.
e-1
The lowest rank's title is based on service branch. That is, a soldato serves in the land forces, a marinor is a "sailor" or "marine" and an ecipor is a "crewman" usually assigned to an air crew.
Adjutant
There is also a special position: Aidor (sometimes called Sarjento Xef), or Adjutant (a-1 in the image). This position is appointed and is usually filled by a Sarjento or Mestre Sarjento. The Aidor is an officer that directs all administrative matters for battalion or larger units. They also advise and assist commanders of battalions, regiments, and brigades on enlisted matters.
