Examples of this suffix:

Derivation

  • *tuxli "wind" > tulka "feather" (Janhunen 2008)
  • *päxli "side" > *pälkä "thumb" (Janhunen 2008)
  • *ńäxli- > FS *ńälkä "hunger" (AASmy)
  • *ponča "tail" > FS *potka "thigh" (?)
  • *peli- "to fear" > BF *pelko "fear", *pelkät- "to fear" (? verbal sense perhaps re-derived)
  • *pečä "pine" > BF *petäkä

No root, but trisyllabic anyway

  • BF #jalaka "elm" (cf. *halaka, *salaka "willow" ← Gmc)
  • #kajaka "gull"
  • #majaka "beaver"
  • BF *kataka "juniper" (versus Samic *koačēvē "prickly"?)
