Geography
- The Islands are an archipelago of 50 some islands in the middle of the ocean straddling the equator. The largest of these islands is about the size of Earth's Iceland. The other islands vary in size down to mere rocks in the ocean.
- There are two chains. One chain stretches southwest to northeast. At the point where it crosses the equator, another shorter chain stretches to the northwest.
Climate
- The wet season occurs during the planet's northern hemisphere winter and spring averaging 12" to 15" of rain each month.
- In the dry season barely 2" of rain falls each month.
- The average temperature ranges between 70° and 88° F, with little seasonal variation.
Natural disasters
- The typical oceanic disasters occur: hurricanes (tomumu) and flooding in the rainy season. Several of the volcanoes (yotilinoiso) are dormant, but there is the occasional earthquake (topiomae).
Communes
- The Islanders live on the larger islands (nuki) where there is a supply of fresh water, building their villages (sameso) beside streams (ono) so that there is always a supply of fresh water..
- The Islanders build simple one-room houses (tomo) of poles and thatch (moi).
