| The Matafengar, literally meaning Great Convention in Mirselec, is often used to denote the great convention of rulers on 8 June 1477, in a "great field" southwest of the walls of Isana (in modern-day Matafengar Memorial Park, where statues stand to commemorate the occasion), where the first unified kingdom of Risevne was proclaimed, with the King of Masal proclaimed the King of Risevne while the other rulers became part of a permanent meeting known as the Afengar.

| Popularly known as a pivotal point in Risevan History, the Matafengar founded the oldest extant constitutional monarchy in Valmante; the core document of the proceedings, known as the Seyazurbe or Constitution, had been in the process of negotiation ever since late 1476, and was signed and confirmed in a ceremony by all the present rulers. This charter for the meetings was basically a list of affairs the king may intervene in or negotiate with local rulers, while setting out the rules for all subsequent Afengar.

| The background for the eventual unification of the country had been laid as early as 1249 DN, when the two most powerful kingdoms of Masal and Rarena undertook the Henimi), or Union, of 1249 with four marriages to bond the two ruling houses. Over the rest of the 13th and the first half of the 14th century, this kingdom began to inexorably extend its reach across the southern half of Masalne, mostly by relatively peaceful means but resorting to war on several occasions; by 1361 the Kingdom of Masal reached up to modern-day Enimdanoi Province, and both its military and economy had far outstripped its rivals by then.
