• 1: And a man went from the house of Levi and took a daughter of Levi.
• 2: And the woman conceived and bore a son, and she saw him, that he (was) beautiful and she hid him three months.
• 3: And she was not able to hide him any longer and so she took to.him an ark of papyrus and daubed it with bitumen and with pitch, and she put the child in it, and placed (it) in the reeds by the hand of the Nile.
• 4: And his sister took her stand from a distance, to know what would be done to him.
• 5: And the daughter of Pharaoh went to bathe at the river, and her maidens (were) walking by the hand of the river, and she saw the ark in the midst of the reeds, and sent her slave and took it.
• 6: And she opened (it) and saw him the child, and, behold, a boy crying. And she had pity on him and said, "This (one is) of the children of the Hebrews."
• 7: And his sister said to the daughter of Pharoah, "Shall I go and call for you a woman, a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for you?"
• 8: And the daughter of Pharaoh said to her, "Go." And the girl went and called the child's mother
• 9: And the daughter of Pharaoh said to her, "Take away this child and nurse him for me, and I will give your wages. And the woman took the child and nursed him.
• 10: And the child grew, and she took him to the daughter of Pharaoh. And he was to her for a son. And she called his name Moses and said, "For I drew him from the water."
