Ludwig Lazarus Zamenhof (pronounced /ˈzɑːmɨnhɒf/ in English; born Leyzer Leyvi Zamengov, December 15, 1859 – April 14, 1917) was an ophthalmologist, philologist, and the inventor of Esperanto, a constructed language designed for international communication.
