Currently my favourite foreign word is "''tuku''" which is [[wikipedia:Quechua languages|Quechua]] for "owl".

The French phrase "''[http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poudre_de_perlimpinpin poudre de perlimpinpin]''" comes a close second, this idiom translates as "[[wikipedia:Snake oil|snake oil]]", i.e. an unproven and questionable remedy.

I'm also fond of the Russian word "''почемука''". The word is the diminutive form of "''почему''" ("why") and is used to mean someone who asks an excessive amount of questions.

The German word "''Handschuhschneeballwerfer''", I believe literally means "one who wears gloves to throw snowballs" ("hand-shoe(glove)-snow-ball-thrower"), is used to mean "coward" and is quite cool too.

My favourite English word is "[http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/verisimilitude#English verisimilitude]".
