Sohldar [sɒɬd̥ar] The lands where the Sohlob langauages are spoken
The Sohlçan cardinal compass directions are actually rotated 45 degrees eastward compared to the English/Terran compass points. However the Sohlob terms for the compass points are usually translated with their closest functional English equivalents, so that kember which is actually north-east is usually translated as 'north' and so on.
The Sohlob terms for compass directions
Kijeb | Sohlob | English | Direction |
---|---|---|---|
*kimra | kember | 'north' | NE |
*styungwa | æçtong | 'east' | SE |
yasa | yah | 'south' | SW |
*ringyu | linj | 'west' | NW |
