The Gileican Islands [dʒɪ'li:kən] (lit. "winter islands"; Dethric Gileicuno Eidis [ʒi'li:kɯnə 'i:ðis]) are a chain of volcanic islands east of Dethria and belonging thereto, at the divergent plate boundary between the Canthauresian and Marcasian plates. While geologically young, the islands are already densely settled by wildlife; since discovery in 1946 CIE, the area has been off-limits to human settlement and activity other than scientific research.
