An SAP split is usually between second person and third person, although I did model the Ngiæra split on a natlang (I can't remember which now). The unusual split in Ngiæra, I'm thinking, results from one of the first singular pronouns (iiar or iæik)  and the second plural pronoun being in origin polite, third person terms and therefore absolutive rather than nominative. The second plural pronoun /iei/ remained absolutive, but the first person pronoun absorbed the nominative form of its counterpart.

I'm having trouble getting the IPA combining diacritics under vowels - I want to indicate glide that's [o] not [u], since Ngiæra doesn't have [u] or [w]. So far, however, I can't get it under the o in the edit box. Any advice?

A Thought on Pronouns

An SAP split is usually between second person and third person, although I did model the Ngiæra split on a natlang (I can't remember which now). The unusual split in Ngiæra, I'm thinking, results from one of the first singular pronouns (iiar or iæik) and the second plural pronoun being in origin polite, third person terms and therefore absolutive rather than nominative. The second plural pronoun /iei/ remained absolutive, but the first person pronoun absorbed the nominative form of its counterpart.
