Cherry Jam (no native name yet, sorry) is a fruit-flavored language descended from Khulls. It is part of a series including Apple PIE, Lemonade, Mandarin Orange, Strawberry Icecream, and Raspberry Wine.
Cherry Jam is intended to resemble Japanese. This is achieved by running the Khulls language through a series of sound changes identical those that are believed to have produced modern Japanese, with some additional changes in order to prune out sounds present in Khulls but not in Old Japanese.
Phonology
The vowel system of Old Japanese is presumed to have been /a i u ə e we wi o/, which is nonstandard. This can be thought of as being /a e i ə u/ plus labialized versions of the three frontmost vowels. This may be inaccurate, since Old Japanese had /wa/ in bare form but seemingly not after consonants.
